Healthy soil means healthier crops, happier farmers means stronger communities, growing produce isn’t just about market prices.
Broccoli
Gotta thank our early Italian immigrants in the 1920’s for bringing the “Broccolo” meaning the “the flowering crest of a cabbage.” to the mainstream in America at the time. We grow hundreds of acres of Broccoli, but the heads cannot be machine gathered and must be hand-harvested using knives to remove from the plant's base, making it a labor-intensive crop.
Jalapenos
Did you know, Jalapeño peppers were the very first pepper to travel into space in 1982 on the Space Shuttle Columbia. The five-day mission was to place communication satellites into orbit, and fellow astronaut Sherwood Springs gave home-grown jalapeños to the space crew as a treat to eat in space. They also last longer than any other vegetable while in space. We grow them right near the origins of this ancient crop.
Serranos
Throughout Mexico, there are over sixty-four varieties of chile peppers that are cultivated and used in regional cuisine. Despite the country’s diversity, jalapeno and Serrano chile peppers have steadily remained as two of the most popular cultivars. We grow these popular peppers throughout the year on hundreds of acres of pristine land and soil.
Celery
Native to the Mediterranean region and cultivated over three thousand years, celery is a biennial herbaceous plant of the Umbelliferae family, which also includes carrots, parsley, fennel, dill and anise. Its leaves are sometimes discarded but hold all of the flavor and should be used more often in our opinion. We grow hundreds of acres of Celery and have a variety of pack sizes and options.
